How Crash works
Crash is the simplest casino game to understand and the easiest to misunderstand. A multiplier climbs from 1.00x; you cash out any time before it "crashes"; if you are still in when it does, you lose the stake. Here is what decides the number, where the edge lives, and how to verify a round.
Where the crash point comes from
Each round's crash point is computed from a server seed the casino committed to in advance and a public seed such as a block hash or your client seed. The result is a number drawn so that the chance of the multiplier reaching at least m is roughly (1 − edge) / m. With a 1% edge, the round passes 2.00x about 49.5% of the time, 10x about 9.9% of the time, and 100x about 0.99% of the time.
The multiplier climbing on screen is animation. The crash point was fixed before the round started; the curve just reveals it.
Where the house edge sits
If you always cash out at 2.00x, you win 49.5% of rounds and double your stake each time. Expected return is 0.495 × 2 = 0.99 of your stake, so you lose 1% on average per round. The same maths holds at any target: the edge is the same at 1.10x as at 50x. Choosing a target changes variance, not expectation.
Why strategies don't work
- Martingale (double after a loss) turns a 1% edge into a small chance of a huge loss. Ten losses in a row at 2x happen about once every 1,000 sequences, and the eleventh bet is 1,024 units.
- "Due" multipliers are a fallacy. Each round is independent; five crashes under 1.5x say nothing about the sixth.
- Cashing out early to be safe lowers variance but not the edge. Cashing at 1.10x wins 90% of the time and still loses 1% on average.
Auto-cashout and split bets
Auto-cashout removes reaction time from the game, which matters: the difference between clicking at 1.95x and 2.00x is real money at volume. Some sites let you place two bets per round with different targets; that is a variance tool, not an edge.
Verifying a round
- Before betting, note the hashed server seed the casino publishes.
- After the round, the casino reveals the server seed. Hash it and confirm it matches the commitment.
- Run the published formula with the revealed seed and the public seed; you should get the crash point you saw.
Most casinos have a verifier page that does step 3 for you. It proves the outcome was not changed after your bet. It does not prove the edge is 1%; for that, read the game rules and check the formula.
